The exhibition, 'Rush' was the culmination of a 3 year painting experiment that went from12" paintings on acrylic paper to one metre square canvases. Its a collection of over 200 paintings available exclusively here. It started with the idea of producing small, affordable paintings the same size as all the record sleeves I’ve designed over the years. I knew that many people have my work as printed 12” covers so I thought there could be an interest for unique originals. I soon realised that I had to go bigger - and then bigger again. The challenge was coming up with a style with no creative compromise and that broke away from self-imposed restraints. I let go of any rules about subject, method or whether it might find popularity.
The work sits somewhere in the space between abstraction and realism. Its been liberating not having to worry about what is the ‘subject’. People have asked me - why call it ‘Rush’? I don’t have a short answer really other than it just seems to fit. Life goes past in a rush. The universe spins endlessly in a rush. Music is a rush. Emotions are a rush. I’m illustrating the emotions and ideas I have about music, colour, space, the universe around us and how incomprehensible it is. Literally every possibility exists in deep space. If I lived in a prehistoric time, I would be scratching marks on the walls whilst wondering whether some cosmic mathematician designed it all. I hope you find a painting that evokes an emotion, reminds you of a memory or that speaks to you in some way.

The fabulous Broadway Gallery in Letchworth was the venue for the exhibition. Big thanks to Paul the curator and Anna the technician.
Huge appreciation for the collectors who made the show such a success and found places in their homes for new art.
Massive thanks to everyone who came down to see the work and offer support including Neil (AKA DJ Flash) from Violet Nights Recordings, Paul and Conrad (AKA Blame), Gavin (AKA Nookie) and it was cool to meet MC Five Alive, (what a voice!) My long-term partner in crime Gareth Jones was there alongside Gary Haslan - the superb sleeve designer from Over/Shadow. Was brilliant to see them all.
Friends and family turned out in force and helped me out. Thanks to Jane, Tim, Dad, both Louises, Carmen, Ollie, Aliya, Freya, Cyrille, Diccon, Jim and most of all - Vanessa. XXX
